This morning, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak has praised Derby's collaborative approach to recovering from the Coronavirus Pandemic, which has seen and continues to see a Recovery Taskforce made up of Marketing Derby, Derby City Council, the University of Derby, TOYOTA, Bombardier, Rolls-Royce plc, Derbion and so many other local companies, groups and organisations, working collaboratively to help get our City, and our Country, back on its feet.
The Chancellor also praised the Council's plan to reopen the #citycentre; including a series of cultural and arts events like the brilliant Derby Market Place and the plans for the Becketwell Regeneration, as well as expressing his support for the reintroduction of Neighbourhood Funding to all wards in the City, funding which is spent so well by the Chaddesden Ward Councillors, Mickleover Councillors and their Derby City Conservatives colleagues across the City.
I'm delighted that the #chancellor has recognised that in amongst the huge Whitehall decisions, the unique collaborative approach of Derby's most high profile companies and organisations has played its part in the efforts to get the city, and country, back on its feet.
The Government has taken a huge range of historical financial decisions to help businesses across the country to survive, and now to thrive, and it makes me proud to hear Derby being praised for its own decision to work together in order to lead the city out of what has been an unprecedented and incredibly damaging economic crisis.
