Today, I had the pleasure of being joined by Children and Families Minister Vicky Ford MP on two visits to schools here in Derby North.
Our first stop was St Giles School, where we met with their amazing Headteacher Clive Lawrence and fantastic pupils who led on a guided tour around their forest school. We also met with their school council to hear about everything they've been up to and joined in with their lessons as well.
Next stop was Royal School for the Deaf Derby, where Headteacher Helen Shepherd showed us around their brand new dining hall and we had lunch and a chat with some of their wonderful pupils; as well as meeting with their sixth form students and discussing how they had spent their Covid Catch Up Fund.
After children have spent so much time learning from home over the last year, it was brilliant to take the Minister to two of the most renown schools in our area and showcase the amazing teaching methods and brilliant facilities that pupils in Derby North enjoy.
