Today a further meeting was held with Derby City Council and local stakeholders to discuss the bridge closure. The council have a clearer idea on the reality of a temporary structure. This will need to be separate from the current bridge structure due to the poor condition of the concrete and iron work.
The temporary structure is estimated to take around 12 weeks to put in place, once the appropriate position has been chosen in line with the Environment Agencies guidelines. The Council's Emergency Planning team will be meeting with the Environment Agency to make progress where these matters are concerned.
We will be meeting in a fortnight to discuss progress on these plans and I will seep you updated on any discussions.
I am holding a further meeting this week, with the businesses who are affected by the bridge closure. I will also be holding another residents meeting very soon.
