From a number of responses to the Crime Survey I ran earlier this year, and in the insightful feedback from local runners and running groups including Derwent Runners , Mickleover Running Club and Chesapeake Road Runners, I know that it is felt that street lighting in Derby North, and some hot spot areas in particular, needs to be improved.
So last week, I wrote to Derby City Council to ask to receive regular updates on installation, improvement and alterations to both street lights and CCTV in our area.
I am aware that, as part of a long-term agreement, upgrade works are being conducted across #Derby, which residents will be notified of in advance. It is great to know improvements will be occurring, and I will monitor these developments closely to help ensure that runners, joggers, walkers and everyone can feel safe on our streets, especially at night.
