This afternoon, I welcomed the Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Kwasi Kwarteng MP to Derby, and accompanied him on a visit to Tioga Limited on Mansfield Road.
Tioga, which employs 135 people, is one of the country’s leading contract electronic manufacturers and assembles a huge array of electronic products, from individual components to highly complex, complete machinery.
A highlight of our visit was discovering how some of the company’s components are so small that staff have to look through high-powered microscopes in order to see them and then watching watch as their fully automated production lines produced an incredible 12 to 14 parts per second.
I want to say a huge thank you to the Secretary of State for coming to #Derby to see part of what we offer, and how our rich engineering prowess is making its presence felt in the electronics industry.
