DERBY North MP Amanda Solloway is asking talented young artists to put pen to paper to design a card celebrating the coronation which will be sent to King Charles on behalf of constituents.
Children in years 1 and 2 at schools in the Derby North area are invited to submit designs for the greetings card congratulating His Majesty King Charles III on officially taking the throne.
The winning design will be chosen by Amanda Solloway and approved by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, before being delivered direct to Buckingham Palace.
Amanda said: “Very few people will recall the last coronation in 1953, but I know those who were around still remember it very clearly - it was a significant moment in their childhoods and for many the first time they had watched television.
“To mark this historic occasion, I have decided to launch a Coronation Card Competition. I have written to all primary schools across the constituency, inviting pupils to take part.
“I’m looking for something really creative that encapsulates what we love about Derby or what they love about the King.
“I’m really hoping that a promising young artist will be able to produce a winning design that marks the start of a new chapter in the history of the monarchy.”
The design should be A5 size and sent to the Derby North constituency office before April 26th. The address is Amanda Solloway’s Office, Revive Healthy Living Centre, Roe Farm Lane, Chaddesden, Derby, DE21 6ET. All entries must include the artist’s name, age, form, and school.
