This afternoon I joined students and lecturers from the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Derby as part of #BritishScienceWeek #BSW21 to hear about their research projects and how they think we can get more people interested in #STEM subjects.
It was just so fascinating to hear about how they got into STEM fields, from workshops at school to the careers of their parents to work experience placements and from watching #davidattenborough, and it really bring home how important it is for #stemforkids to be at the forefront of our minds.
There were some unique and intriguing suggestions on how we can get the wider public more involved in #scienceandtechnology, especially around the importance of fun, exciting, visible and reach science, which is where #kitchenexperiments can play such a vital role in sparking creative minds.
Which such inquisitive and informed individuals at the forefront of our scientific community, #Derby and the whole UK, and in such a brilliant position to #BuildBackBetter with science, research and development leading the way.
