Last night, I was absolutely delighted to guide the Advanced Research and Invention (ARIA) Bill through its report stage and its third reading, getting it one step closer to becoming law.
The ARIA Bill will overwhelmingly strengthen our UK Science System, dramatically enhancing and scaling up our current capabilities to discover, provide for an unlock a new level of ambition among the brightest, determined and most driven our science community has to offer.
The Agency itself will function as a small, agile organisation, autonomously from the Government of the day, and in possession of a unique set of powers which will equip it to support ground-breaking ideas.
The Agency, and those who will form its core, will have the potential to profoundly change all of our lives for the better, and their ambition, foresight and hard work will boldly strive to deliver the transformational economic and social benefits that can be so intrinsically linked to High Risk - High Reward research.
