Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, an annual awareness day organised by the Samaritans, and this year the theme is 'Creating Hope Through Action,' empowering people with the confidence to engage with activities that will give them hope.
To mark this day, and hopefully help reduce the number of people who take their own lives, I have worked with Gavin Boyle of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, Professor Kathryn Mitchell of the University of Derby, Tracy Harrison of Safe and Sound Group, Matthew Taylor of YMCA Derbyshire, Dr Drew Smith and Derby City Council's Youth Mayor Connie Spencer, to produce a video discussing what we do to feel hopeful, in that hopes that it could help inspire others.
If you're going through a difficult time, or have done previously, why not share what you do to feel hopeful in the comments below.
