This afternoon, I received my flu jab at Vision Pharmacy on Nottingham Road in Chaddesden.
This year more than ever, it is so important that everyone who is eligible receives their flu jab ahead of the winter months; it will help protect yourself but also friends, family and all those around you.
The flu vaccine is free for people who are aged 50 and over, have certain health conditions, are pregnant, are in residential care or if you are a carer, frontline health worker or social worker.
To find a pharmacy near you where you can receive your flu jab, simply visit - https://www.nhs.uk/.../pharmacy-nhs-flu-vaccine-service
If you live near to Vision Pharmacy, you can contact them on 01332 660 760
The flu vaccine programme comes alongside the Coronavirus (Covid-19) Booster Vaccination Programme, where people who have already received their first and second Covid-19 vaccinations will be invited for a third dose, to help provide longer-term protection.
Those currently eligible for the booster vaccination include people aged 50 and over; people who work in care homes; people who are frontline health and social care workers; and people aged 16 or over who have a high risk of getting seriously ill from Covid-19, are a main carer for someone at high risk from Covid-19 or who live with someone who is more likely to get infections.
While frontline health or social care workers can book a booster dose appointment online, and people working for a care home or NHS Trust may receive it through their employment, other eligible participants will be invited to book an appointment to receive their booster jab at least 6 months after receiving their second dose.
