16.01.2022 - Like many fans, I am deeply concerned about the future of Derby County Football Club.
I want to reassure residents of Derby North that I continue to monitor the current situation and you have my assurance that I will do what ever I can to support the club as a Derby MP.
I have written to Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and have met with EFL to discuss the issue.
I have also been in correspondence with the Minister for Sport, Heritage and Tourism.
On Friday, details emerged following discussion between the club’s administrators and the EFL that were extremely concerning and would appear to significantly complicate the process of securing a new owner and to demonstrate financial viability by February the 1st.
I will be seeking agreement with stakeholders for an urgent meeting to be held with with EFL to assist in anyway to help secure Derby County’s future.
17.01.2022 - Further urgent discussions took place today between myself and representatives from the EFL and @DerbyCC to discuss the ongoing situation.
I went on ITV news to discuss the ongoing situation of Derby County and talk about what I am doing going forwards to try and help find a solution.
18.01.2022 - This morning I had a further meeting with Paul Simpson from @DerbyCC before meeting the administrators of Derby County later today.
I have today met with Minister for Sport, Heritage and Tourism @HuddlestonNigel for discussions over what can be to done to save Derby County.
Myself and other Derbyshire MPs have today taken part in a meeting with the administrators of @dcfcofficial along with @DerbyCC.
I was also present in the chamber to support Pauline Latham MPs urgent question on the Rams.
19.01.2022 -
I know lots of you have been anxiously following updates regarding Derby County and I wanted to offer an update on the progress so far.
You’ll have seen yesterday that myself and colleagues have continued to raise the issue in parliament and ensure that a voice for Derby County is heard.
I have met with EFL and the administrators along with Derby City Council and have also spoken to The Rams Trust and reached out to other key stakeholders for further meetings.
I have also spoken with Middlesbrough and Wycombe MP’s and football club owners regarding the claims against Derby County.
I’m sure you’ll appreciate that discussions still need to be continued in order to find a solution but I am certainly feeling more hopeful that things are heading in a more positive direction and that finding a solution is more likely than it was.
Today, myself and colleagues have another meeting with administrators and will continue to pursue the issue for as long as needed with all those involved in the process.
I will continue to update you on any discussions as they happen and will do my best to keep you updated as much as I possibly can.
17.02.2022 -
Last week we received the brilliant news that a resolution had been reached over the Middlesbrough claim.
Our next step is to allow the administrators to handle the offers that have come in to buy the club and to move forward with a preferred bidder.
For the time being we all need to be patient and support the team on the pitch as we look for a huge 3 points against Peterborough this weekend.

After months of meeting with members of TeamDerby, Chris Kirchner was named as the preferred bidder by Quantuma. The American businessman, is a brilliant candidate to take this great club forward, and we were lucky enough to catch up him on our latest episode of Derby North Talks!
