On 9th June 2022, I had a regular update meeting with the Derby City Council and other local representatives to discuss the bridge closure.
At the meeting it was discussed that the council are awaiting further reports of assessments for a temporary strutted to make the bridge accessible to residents and potentially cyclists. The fastest option would be to utilise the existing structure, however this is entirely dependent on further assessment in order to have a full understanding of what this would involved to meet safety regulations.
The other temporary options would be to put a temporary structure in place, however this would take at least until October/November for this to be completed due to logistics, permissions and embankment issues.
I have spoken with Ministers for the Department for Transport, The Crown Estate and Digital, Culture, Media and Sports. I have also contacted The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
